The PVC Schedule 40 male adapter is used in cold water pressure distribution systems including irrigation, pool and spa, potable water and chilled water applications. The NIBCO 437-291 (NIBCO internal part number L17825YP) is a 2-1/2" x 1-1/2" PVC Schedule 40 Reducer Bushing. It is a plumbing fitting used to connect a larger 2-1/2" pipe or fitting down to a smaller 1-1/2" line. Key Technical Specifications Size Connections: 2-1/2 inch Spigot x 1-1/2 inch Slip (Socket). Connection Types: The Spigot (male) end fits directly into a 2-1/2" socket fitting, while the Slip (female) end accepts a 1-1/2" bare PVC pipe. All PVC SCH 80/XH fittings shall be produced by Spears® manufacturing company from PVC type I, cell classification 12454, conforming to ASTM Standard D1784. All injection molded PVC SCH 80/XH fittings shall be certified for potable water service by NSF® international manufactured in strict compliance to ASTM D2467. All fabricated fittings shall be produced in accordance with Spears® general specifications for fabricated fittings. All PVC flanges shall be designed and manufactured to meet CL150 bolt pattern per ANSI Standard B16.5 and rated for a maximum internal pressure of 150 psi, non-shock at 73 deg F.
