Connection Type: Spigot x Socket (Spig x SxS).The outer 1/2" connection is a Spigot (male smooth end, same outer diameter as a pipe) to fit inside a 1/2" socket fitting. The inner 1/4" connection is a Socket (female smooth end) to accept a 1/4" pipe.
