Shear Pins
BrowningĀ® 1305002 Stock Shear Pin, 3/16 in Dia Neck, 1-1/8 in OD, For Use With Model SHH1 Hub, 3730 in-lb Torque, Steel
BrowningĀ® shear pin hubs are designed to shear a necked pin at a predetermined load. This protects equipment from overloads. Consisting of a hub assembly, a sprocket and shear pin, the shear pin bridges between the sprocket and hub assembly. The shear pin is available in load increments, so the closest one to your application requirements must be chosen. Resetting the shear pin hub is accomplished manually by replacing the shear pin. Best applied to applications where infrequent overloads are encountered.

Shear pin sprockets provide simple, dependable protection against expensive machinery damage caused by overloads or jamming. Torque is transmitted by a single pin, necked to shear when the safe load is exceeded. When an overload occurs the pin shears, disconnecting the drive immediately. Shear pins can be necked to customer specific torque ratings.
